Amazon.com Review
Protect your hands from hot pot handles with this slip-on handle mitt. From Lodge, maker of rugged cast-iron cookware, the mitt features heavy-duty Pyrotex fabric on the exterior, along with a scorch-proof coating. Inside, a thick terry lining feels comfortable against the skin, and thick cotton batting between the two layers adds further heat and steam protection.

Heat-resistant up to 495 degrees F, the Max Temp mitt fits over stainless or cast-iron handles, indoors or at the barbecue, and comes in basic black to match any décor. --Ann Bieri

A waste of money
I thought this would be larger. It does fit the handle but a normal padded pot holder folded in half would do the same. This handle mitt isn't as thick as some of my pot holders which cost less and do a better job on covering handles on cookware.

Keeps me from being a dummy
What can I say? Hot handles look just like cold ones and after 3 or 4 beers the memory of which pan just came out of the oven is overtaken by the motor memory of me just picking up pans.

This thing keeps be from being a dummy. Just remember to always put it on the handle as you take pans out of the oven and you'll save yourself the pain.

Handy dandy on the handle
It's a lot easier to cook with my cast iron skillet when I don't have to wear an oven mitt to hold on to the handle or wrap a pot holder around the handle while hanging on to it. There have been so many times in my life when I forgot to pick up a pot holder or put on the oven mitt before grabbing the handle and burning my hand.

Mainly when cooking breakfast and the coffee hadn't kicked in yet. All I have to do is slide this Handle Mitt onto the handle and not have to worry about burning my hand should I forget I'm using a cast iron skillet and not one of my other skillets with a plastic handle. I'm using the Handle Mitt on my new Stainless Steel cookware now too.

This set of cookware has stainless steel handles which also get hot so I want to buy two more Handle Mitts so I don't have to switch one from handle to handle when I have more than one pot on the stove. My grandmother used to have a Handle Mitt for her cast iron skillet. I'd forgotten all about it until I saw this on on Amazon.
